Hats and Mitts

It’s still a great thrill to find my pattern between the pages of Vogue Knitting. I’m actually still waiting for my contributor’s copy of the magazine but there are already a few finished projects on Ravelry. My design is the slouchy hat in the Yoga story.

I alternated bands of fisherman’s rib with twisted rib. The Fisherman’s rib looks particularly great when the hat is stretched a bit on the head because the ribbing opens up and contrasts even more with the tighter twisted rib. For me it evokes the slashed sleeves of the High Renaissance.

Zealana put out a pattern collection to feature their Rimu possom blend for TNNA last June and I finally have the booklet in hand. I have a hat and fingerless mitt set in the collection. They feature another variation on fisherman’s rib with cables. I love how the double row of crossed cables look like circles.

Thanks! There are lots of these slouchy hats popping up on Ravelry now. It’s so exciting to see everyone’s interpretations. Definitely keep your eyes open for more in upcoming publications.

    Hi Holli:
Your son has grown up so much and he looks a lot like you these days!

Do you think so? When he was a baby I thought he looked a bit like my baby pictures, but now that his personality has developed, I just see him as Devan. He’s a pretty great kid and growing up quickly!
