Audrey sent me pictures of the Jack that she completed for a friend’s granddaughter. Charlee is so adorable in this sweater! Thank you, Audrey, for sharing.

$49 (plus shipping)

This pattern is only available as a kit. It is basically the Candace cardigan with a Jack ‘o Lantern on the back. As you can see, I found the perfect yarn for this pattern.

We’re in the thick of Hallowe’en preparations around here. We went to the pumpkin patch last week and came home with five pumpkins.

Devan’s school also celebrates Hallowe’en in a big way and we attended the Hallowe’en Howl on Friday night. There were games, spooky decorations, haunted house, jello-eating contests and prizes. All in all, a fun evening. Our little king might dress up as something else on Hallowe’en night. He hasn’t decided yet.

Two yarn shops in the United States have just started carrying my patterns.

Look for my patterns at Knot Just Yarn in Burlington, WA. Becky was introduced to my patterns through one of her employees who recently completed Kieran. You can also take a look at Connie’s sweater on Ravelry. I love the green Smooshy by Dream in Color that she used for the body. I’ve used it before and it’s a dream to work with. The sleeves and collar are in a Trekking self-patterning yarn. Love it.

A new order is winging its way to Kathy’s Kreations in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Kathy originally contacted me regarding a class she plans on teaching at her shop using my Devan pattern on Knitty. She liked my pattern line so much that she placed an order.
Beehive Wool Shop in Victoria, Homecraft Importers in Vancouver and PUDDINGyarn in Calgary have also just restocked their Holli Yeoh patterns. See the full list of retailers who sell my patterns.

Margot sent me a picture of the Guess Who? gloves she recently completed. She won the kit from me by entering her name in a draw at my tent at the Victoria Knit-Out last June.

Margot writes:
The model is one of our granddaughters and she really thinks they are “cool”, so guess that is where they are going.
With the leftovers Margot plans on knitting a second pair for her other granddaughter.

At a recent Guild meeting, Margaret showed me the vest she knit using my Aidan pattern. I really love seeing other people’s colour choices. I think Margaret may have bought the yarn from me and I love her colour combination. I never thought of putting those two together!

Margaret also shared with me a wonderful story about her visit to Button Button - a Vancouver store full of buttons. There was another customer there looking for buttons for not one, not two but five handknit sweaters. And the best part of this story–they were all my designs! Margaret had a great time helping her select buttons for the sweaters. I never did find out the name of this prolific knitter. If you’re out there, please leave a comment!

Last weekend I attended a knitting event at the Surrey Museum called Pic-Knit. What a great event! It was their first year hosting this knitting get together and I would say it was a success. There were many vendors including yours truly. They also had knitting demonstrations and a short film on Cowichan knitting in their theatre. Linda, the organizer asked me if I would be interested in perhaps teaching a workshop at next year’s event. Yes!

I had such fun meeting many new knitters and putting faces to names I’ve only known on the internet. Audrey, it was great to finally meet you! Your name has been on my email list for so long and you were the first to sign up for the new email list on my new website. You’ve been more than kind in your emails to me in the past and I think you’ll probably recognize your words in a couple of the quotes that appear on my website.

Carol, I just had to snoop in your knitting bag when you said that you have a Ruby on the needles. Thank you for sharing! What a great colourway.

Karen, what a thrill it was to hear someone say, “Oh! I saw this in Vogue Knitting!” Yes, indeed the fall Vogue Knitting has hit the newsstands and I have proof. My Mum went all over Edmonton looking for the issue on August 5th, the day it was supposed to be available. Her LYS, River City Yarns had already sold out, but the local magazine store and Chapters didn’t have it out yet. I found it at my local London Drugs in Vancouver and we’ve since seen it at Chapters in Edmonton. It’s out there now! Of course, I have yet to receive my subscription issue. That will take some time yet based on past experience.

Some wonderful knitters have sent me images of their Bee’s Knees Knits creations recently and I would like to share them with you.

Uli recently completed the Ruby hoody for her daughter. The pattern goes up to a size four, and although it took longer to finish than anticipated it still fits her Little Miss who will be turning six this month. You can read more about it here.

I met Valerie at the Victoria Knit-Out last June and she bought two kits from me. She has since joined our knitting guild and at the last meeting showed me both sweaters. She knit Devan first and finished it in August. Then she used her knitting machine to make Lucy and completed it in only three days! You can read about her adventures knitting Lucy on the machine here and here.

Beth just emailed me with a new photo of her little guy in Avery. I just love the colour choice and I’m thinking maybe my little guy needs one in muted and charcoal greys too. The pattern only goes up to a size 4 so if I want to make one for Devan, I’m going to have to size it up one more size!

Wool Revival is one of my favourite LYSs in Edmonton. Owner, Bonnie really encouraged me to publish my designs and she was the first shop owner to place an order of my first pattern, Candace almost 4 years ago. She has supported me since the beginning and it’s always nice to go in for a visit when I’m in town. When I was in I found out that Wool Revival now has a web presence. Welcome to the blogging world Bonnie!

Yesterday when I showed up at the shop I saw a couple of other familiar faces there - yarn reps Gary and Stephanie were showing their wares. There will be some new beautiful yarns at Wool Revival this fall! I saw that Noro colour swatches were laid out on the table. I’ve always liked the selection of yarns at Wool Revival. Bonnie carried Rowan back when you could hardly find it locally. She also has Mission Falls, Fleece Artist, Hand Maiden, Jo Sharp, Manos and many, many more. The above photo shows the cotton section of the shop.

And perhaps most importantly she carries a wide variety of self-patterning yarns and has Bee’s Knees Knits samples on display!

To my pleasant surprise, a customer stepped forward and said, “Is that Holli?” What fun meeting Kim of the beautiful Jamie I talked about here. Thank you Kim for sharing your beautiful knits with me - I love seeing them. Earlier this year, Kim also sent me photos of her JoJo. I just love this shot of her daughter showing off the back of the sweater.

I just love receiving email from knitters who have completed one of my sweaters - especially when they send photos! Martha has outdone herself by knitting not one, but TWO Drunken Argyle vests. The original pattern was published in the men’s issue of Knitty.com.

In January Martha emailed me a photo of her first vest that she knit for her 28-yr-old son for Christmas. He selected the design from about six vests that Martha showed him. He’s a graphic designer and as Martha said,
“The idea of the argyle being drunken really appealed to his sense of humour.”

Then in February, Martha wrote to me again to tell me that her 26-yr-old son wanted a Drunken Argyle vest too, however Martha was suffering from tendonitis and wanted to knit it in a larger gauge. Her son could not be dissuaded even though Martha tried showing him many ’sober’ and less detailed options. Martha wrote,
“He would dearly love a drunken version as he claims he doesn’t take his golfing too seriously!”
I sent Martha some options and possible solutions and she surprised me by sending me photos of the finished vest earlier this month. It took her just under a month to complete a DK version of Drunken Argyle. Doesn’t it look great?!
“If my youngest lad insists on one I will do it.”
Martha, I want to see a picture of all three of your sons wearing their Drunken Argyle vests. Thank you for sharing your story and your knitting with me.

I love receiving emails from knitters who’ve made one of my designs. Kim just sent me some great photos of her darling daughter modeling her recently finished Jamie sweater. Doesn’t it look great in those girly colours? Jamie is a fun knit without any seams. Look at more photos and read about Kim’s Jamie here.
