Thanks! It was exciting knitting in colours I wouldn't ordinarily choose myself. I ended up really loving them. Watch for more information about the designs in June.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I'm slowly but surely reknitting the lost samples. I do wonder what the person who took or found the bag of samples thought of all those little squares and partially knit swatches and single socks.

I've done spool knitting with grades 1, 2 and 3. A friend of mine also teaches spool knitting at her son's school and this year had the grade 6 students (who she had taught when they were in grade 2) help out with a younger class. All the older kids were really excited about it and wanted to try knitting.

Holli:
What grade did you do the spool knitting with. I need a project for my son's class

I believe a similar catastrophe happened to knitting designer and teacher Beth Brown-Reinsel (Ravelry: bethbrknits): all of her sample sweaters and other materials for teaching were stolen from the trunk of her car. Heartbreaking. I'm so sorry to know this happened to you.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your finished Drunken Argyle. You should note that the instructions take into account the shrinkage factor of the cotton. Since you're using wool, you won't need to knit at many rows. All the length measurements should probably be about 10% shorter and shift the bottom shaping up a bit on the chart to take care of the discrepancy.

You were wondering if anyone has knit this yet - and it's next in my project line-up! I'm going to use fingering tweeds (wool) navy and khaki, and I think I'm going to stick with two colors - so the crosshatching will be navy of khaki depending on what the background color is. I'll put a pic on ravelry when I'm done!

Thank you! I really wished I could keep the sample. I need to lay my hands on some chunky alpaca in a sale bin!
